A joint effort of Pangasinan 5th district solon, Kimi Cojuangco, and Mayor Libradita Abrenica caused the Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) officials to approve a state-of-the-art five-classroom building in Villasis. A team headed by Mr. Jun Tejada was sent by PAGCOR Chairman Cristino L. Naguiat, Jr. to inspect the sites deemed feasible by the mayor.

The structure will cover a forty five meters by fourteen meters area approximately as per one member of the team. “Kumpleto na yung building ng lahat ng mga upuan at mga kailangan sa loob” (the building will be complete with all the amenities inside), he said.

The mayor graciously led the pack with Ms. Dhang Manaois, representing Congresswoman Cojuangco, in surveying possible locations for this state-of-the-art building. The first stop was at the Don Ramon E. Costales Memorial National High School in Poblacion. The burgeoning population of the school ties in with one of the requirements for the project; however, the land site fitting the specification is situated in the school’s remotest section contrasting with the exquisite design of the building.

The second location, Unsad National High School did not meet the required area. The third locale, Barangobong National High School, is perfect in terms of land area and good vista but the school population does not agree with the requisite.

None of the three potential locales visited have not been confirmed nor eliminated at this point. When the decision is made for the project, the Department of Education shall take charge of the construction funded by PAGCOR.
